Southgate W2’s vs Old Cranleighans W1’s
0-1 Win

Womens 2s make up for their defeat from the day before… win against Old Cranleighans!
For the second time this weekend, the Women’s 2s set off to West London for another pre-christmas rearranged fixture against Old Cranleighans W1s.
Everyone was raring to go and to secure a win, following on from the day before’s defeat to Barnes and we welcomed back both Ella D & Ella C from their skiing adventures!
The first 35mins saw Southgate gain control of the game, with a number of chances being created in OC’s half. Despite this constant possession, we were only able to gain one goal, obtained by a stellar ball from Lucy S from the defensive line all the way through to the GK who rebounded it straight to Ella D who slotted it in the bottom corner to give Southgate a 1-0 lead going into half time.
Nerves started to kick in when OC’s gained corner after corner in the second half, with more than five corners being awarded to them. However… outstanding composure from Miriam and the rest of the defensive line meant that OC’s were unable to get a single goal, resulting in a 1-0 win to the gate!!
MOM was awarded to Lucy S, for her composure throughout the entire game and distribution of the ball out of the back, and DOD was given to yesterday’s man of the match, Portia, for her ‘questionable’ pre-match snack in the changing room of nuggets and chips from OCs club house (must have done the job as she played very very well).
We look forward to playing back at home this Saturday against Chiswick, looking to get our 8th win of the season & get some more goals on the scoreboard.
