The ladies 2s had a cracking start to their season with a 4-2 win over Henley. The game got off to a bad start when Henley scored within the first 2 minutes. A skilful dribble down the baseline from Caitlin H-C and a cross to Emma Cox who was waiting on the P spot equalised, but at halftime we were still 2-1 down.
In the second half, we came out fighting and our scoring streak was kicked off by Mandy Feighery with an amazing reverse lob over the keeper. Within the space of 10 minutes we went from 2-1 down to 4-2 up with another two goals from Emma Cox and Caitlin H-C.
The Ladies 1s always knew the first fixture would be tough and so it proved against a very strong Hampstead and Westminster side. We competed superbly for 60 minutes with some outstanding goalkeeping from Jess Hudson and were always in with a shout at 1-0 down. Unfortunately the constant pressure eventually told and three late goals gave H & W a 4-0 win.
Ladies 3s with a very young squad lost 3-0 but didn’t concede in the second half and showed plenty of promise
Ladies 4s lost 1-2. We went a goal down in the first half but Rhianna pounced on a poorly taken 16 taking it calmly into the D to draw the keeper before slipping it to Skye to score. A goal late in the 2nd half gave Ashford 2s the win but a Woman of the Week performance from Helen between the posts ensured it wasn’t more. Bring on Staines next week.
Ladies 5s lost 5-1 and the 6s game was cancelled.
