The M1s travelled to Brighton on Sunday looking to extend their winning run and maintain third place in the East Conference, and in a tight encounter the only goal came from Joe Sterlini to give the visitors three points.
Southgate had the better start enjoying more of the ball, although both teams had chances during the half but neither side were able to convert, and the score remained goalless at the break.
The deadlock was broken in the forty sixth minute after Joe Sterlini converted a well worked penalty corner deflecting the ball into the roof of the net to give Southgate the lead. The evenly matched affair continued after the goal with Brighton enjoying the balance of possession, however the Southgate defence held firm to see out the match.
