There were goals a plenty for the men’s section last weekend with 50 goals for and just 17 against on Saturday.
There were big wins for M5s – 9-1 away to Kings Alleyns M3s – and M4s 7-1 away to Hampstead & Westminster Hammers – as Flagons (O40s) continued their late season surge despatching Hampstead & Westminster O40s 4-3 away. M2s beat Slough M1s 6-2 on the water pitch while M3s were seeing off Tulse Hill & Dulwich 4-3 on the far pitch at the same time. M1s travelled to Canterbury to earn their 4-1 win on Saturday and beat University of Birmingham 3-2 at home on Sunday to progress to the semi-finals of the cup.
Meanwhile Southgate’s East League men’s teams were also tearing up the opposition.
3As beat West Herts 4s 8-0 with goals from man-of-the-match Harry Grinham (3), Jackson Trathen (2), Matt Ellis (2) and Ravi Chana in a fantastic spectacle of beautiful passing hockey and teamwork.
Tankards A squeaked past Stevenage 3s by 2-1 with Simon Holmes getting on the score sheet along with captain and man-of-the-match Will Hargrove.
Tankards Y were not to be outdone and faced West Herts 6s winning by 5-2. Wayne Garner and Biffi scored one each but it was James Findlay who was the hat-trick hero and man of the match. Congratulations on your first hat trick for the club James, let’s hope it’s the first of many!
