The M1s continued their winning run beating Teddington 1-0.
Southgate travelled to Teddington on Sunday looking for another three points to keep pace with Old Georgians and Oxted at the top of the East Conference. The match proved to be tight affair with Teddington enjoying the majority of possession in the first half forcing several outstanding saves from Chris Rae in the Southgate goal. The half time interval gave Southgate the chance to adjust their game plan, and they started the second half in much brighter fashion. Four minutes after the interval, Joe Sterlini opened the scoring from a well worked penalty corner to give Southgate the lead. As the half progressed, Teddington pushed forward looking for the equaliser, but the Southgate defence held firm with Chris Rae being forced into action again to deny the home side, keeping a clean sheet and ensuring three points for the visitors.
A special mention goes to Ollie Izzo who made his national league debut having progressed through the junior section to make his mark in the senior sides.
Southgate now welcome Cambridge City to Trent Park on Saturday as they look to edge closer to promotion.
