Sunday afternoon saw us in round 1 cup action against Surbiton 2s who currently top the west conference. With several regular 1s players unavailable we had to call upon our performance squad members who stepped up into the thick of things with ease. As a team who haven’t played much together before – we put together a tough performance against a young and very fast team. Charlotte Childs vital in the midfield picking up MOM. A big congrats to our young guns Sofia Martin, Hatty Shrimpton, Hermoine Kay & Chaela Lambrias for making their ladies 1’s debut.
It was a very physical battle with a few knocks and bruises been dished out after going 4-1 at half time with Emily Ruffel-Hazel slotting the ball home after a great passage of play, we came out strong and continued to dominate and create chances. Several PCs and shots us goals saw us rewarded as the second and final goal came from a penalty corner with Emily Meredith putting the ball away from a well executed classic left slip. A good outing for a young performance squad side but plenty of promising moments. This result now sees us challenge for the plate title.
As always back into it with a tough training week and fire in our bellies as we head to barnes for another epic battle.
