Result : DRAW 4-4 vs Stevenage 2
Match Report : Jon Huddleston
4As played some of their best hockey of the season in a lively 4-4 draw with promotion pushing Stevenage 2s on Saturday.
4As got the ball moving intelligently and this was played to perfection when Raj Sah deflected home for an equaliser after Scott Ramsay had played an incisive through ball from the left.
Stevenage struck back with a well worked ball across the D but the sides were even at half time as Alex Hyer tied the defence in knots and slotted home.
4As dominated much of the second half and the Huddleston-Hargrove short corner axis began to cause problems for Stevenage. Will slotted home after a lovely one two with Scott and Alastair Whatley slapped a lovely finish from left slip into the far corner.
Sadly a couple of defensive errors allowed Stevenage to fight back for a draw.
So a frustrating end to what was a very good performance.
The Defence of James Rushton, Scott Ramsay, Sam Levene, Jon Huddleston, David James and Sajiv Saha knitted well, particularly going forwards.
In midfield Will was superb linking the play together and was ably assisted by Ollie Costelloe, Arun Solanki and Fergus Comrie, who all worked hard and posed questions to their experienced opposition.
Up front Kyle Shah played really well in support of Alastair, Raj and Alex and proved a handful to the full backs.
Ultimately MOTM went to Scott – solid in defence, tireless in driving play on the left and incisive in attack, playing a key role in two of the goals. A fine performance!
