W 5-4
(report by Harry Haynes)
Scorers: Ollie Wickham, Drew Burkin, Todd Lomas, Tom Bachelor (x2)
Going into the St Albans game with one win and one lost from the week before meant it was all to play for in the final game to see which team would come out on top.
Southgate’s first goal of the game was a great diving back post deflection by Ollie Wickham from a ball in by Tom Batch.
A well worked move around the Edge of the D saw Tom Batch slot the ball home for the second Southgate goal.
A ball slapped in from the oppositions 25 then saw Drew Burkin chip it over the keepers head and into the back of the net for Southgate’s 1st goal after halftime.
Drew’s second goal of the game was a great solo run, taking the ball past a couple of players crowed around in the D and then slotting it home on his reverse.
For Southgate’s last goal another great ball in by Tom saw Todd Lomas pick the ball beautifully in the D surrounded by opposition players and then guided the ball into the far corner to score Southgate’s last goal.
In the closing minutes of the game Southgate kept the score at 5-4 with some brilliant defending by the team to beat St Albans and to make it 2 win out of the 3 games.
