5-0 (HT 2-0)
Goal scorers: Nigel Knight 1, Simon Holmes, Alessandro Onano, Alex Hyer 1
The last in a long test match series of good mannered games with OL’s saw a rather more mature (only 2players under 40yrs of age) side take to the water pitch at midday on Saturday. Goal numbers after names. One of the youngsters was in goal – Sam Levene – keeping a clean sheet. With Captain Edwards, for once not needing to don the pads at the last minute, leading from the back alongside him were Jon Huddleston (who later described is own performance as faultless), Phil Peters (runner up in our MOM votes), Nick Hodgson and James Rushton. It was a composed and strong tackling display against their relatively young front line. In midfield we saw lots of energy with Nigel Knight 1, Simon Holmes, Alessandro Onano, Alex Hyer 1 (Man of the Match) and Raj Saha moving the ball well and causing trouble. The duo up front in our 4-4-2 formation were Will Hargrove 2 & Randall Hyer 1, they were joined in the second half on rotation by Simon Holmes. All in all a good performance helped by a stroke conceded relatively early on. OLs battled to the end but the ‘gate were not to be denied.
