On Sunday we welcome league leaders Sevenoaks to Trent Park for a crucial game in the battle for the East Conference title. With both sides unbeaten and only two points separating them, the match promises to be an entertaining clash of the highest order.
There is little to choose between the sides, as we have only dropped points following our 2-2 draw with third placed Richmond, who Sevenoaks incidentally play next weekend. Comparing records, Sevenoaks away goal difference is +6, whereas Southgate’s home goal difference is +11, that having been said, we will have to be wary of Sevenoaks’ goal scoring machines Tejinder Hanspal and Andrew Ross who head the conference leading scorers with nine and eight goals respectfully.
Team news this week is that unfortunately our injury list continues to grow with Thadeus Rivett out with a fractured finger, Sam Mee (hamstring) and Shaun Comley (knee) all unavailable. We will also be without Duncan Scott who is out in Malaysia with England U21s. On the plus side we welcome back Timmy Smyth and Christy Walklin, with Andrew Westbrook also retaining his place, while Giulio Ferrini starts his second game after recovering from a hand fracture.
So on paper this is probably too close to call, but we will be hoping for a similar result to the last time the two sides met when we came out on top with a 3-2 win.
It’s a 14:30 start so please come and support our boys in red and black. All our welcome, what better way to spend your Sunday afternoon ?
