Despite a lackluster first half marred by the pouring rain, Southgate showed their mettle and resilience, battling through the adverse weather conditions to secure a well-deserved victory.
The first breakthrough of the match came from the talented newcomer, Jess Begg, who marked her Southgate debut with a classic slidey-slap into the bottom corner, opening her Southgate account and putting her team in the lead.
Ella Duthie, showcasing her exceptional skills, doubled Southgate’s advantage with a goal that displayed finesse and precision. Duthie expertly maneuvered past the goalkeeper before calmly sending the ball over the line, making it 2-0 in Southgate’s favor.
