Gavin Kay appointed W3 Coach at Southgate

Gavin Kay joins Southgate as our new W3’s coach ahead of the forthcoming season. Gavin arrives back at Southgate after a successful season coaching Division One hockey for West Herts Hockey Club. Gavin joins the already announced Lee Ible as the new M2 coach as Southgate look to build their coaching provision across the club ahead of the new 2025/2026 season.

Gavin says of his appointment,

“I am really looking forward to starting my role as Women’s 3s Coach for the upcoming season. I’m relishing the opportunity to work alongside the experienced coaching team across the performance section of the club, and with the talented players in both the senior and junior sections.

Southgate has a strong identity and clear ambition, and I’m excited to contribute to the continued development of the Women’s 3s. My aim is to build a positive, competitive environment where players can grow in confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy their hockey.”

Southgate’s Director of Hockey Chris Pearce said,

“Gavin joins the senior section of Southgate as the W3’s coach.  He already contributes significantly to the development of our junior section with his work with boys and girls across various age groups. He will now add his senior women’s coaching experience gained elsewhere to help us build strong foundations to help the squad grow as a force in the upper divisions of the London League.”
