LEE IBLE ANNOUNCED AS MEN’S FIRST TEAM COACH AHEAD OF FORTHCOMING 2026/27 SEASON!
Southgate Hockey Club is today excited to be announcing Lee Ible as the Men’s 1st Team coach for the forthcoming season.
He will join Jason Lee who remains in post as assistant head coach in what is an exciting coaching partnership, offering huge experience to the playing group with a clear aim on seeking promotion straight back to the Premier Division.
Lee, who joined Southgate last year from Old Loughtonians had a successful season with Southgate M2’s securing their National League status for the coming season and brings a wealth of experience with him to the role.
His playing experience includes 5 years playing for the Welsh senior team and since 2014 he has coached successfully seeing promotions from a succession of clubs including The University of Bristol, University of Cardiff and Old Loughtonians. He has also coached internationally for the Wales Development, U21’s and other age groups.
We look forward to working with Lee in his new role as the club looks to build on the past few seasons.
On his appointment, Lee said:
“It’s a real honour to be appointed Head Coach of Southgate Men’s 1st Team. This is a club with a rich history and a strong tradition of success, and I’m proud to be given the opportunity to lead the next chapter.
Last season’s disappointment is something we all recognise, but our focus now is firmly on the future. My role is to bring the group together, maximise our strengths, and create an environment where the team can thrive. We’ll be aiming to compete strongly in Division 1 South and earn promotion back to the Premier League as quickly as possible.
I want us to play a positive, ambitious and entertaining style of hockey—one that reflects the quality and commitment of the players, and that Southgate supporters can enjoy and take pride in.

“We are very excited to confirm Lee Ible and Jason Lee as our Men’s 1’s Coaching Team for the 26/27 season.
Lee joined the club last year to guide our Men’s 2’s to a highly respectable 6th place finish in their first year playing national league. He also worked with the 1st team coaching team last season so takes on the Head Coach role already knowing the playing squad.
His extensive experience in Division 1 South alongside his international playing and coaching experience made him the standout candidate from our recruitment process.
Jason Lee will continue in the Assistant Coach role, providing the squad and Lee with outstanding support and consistency to best equip the group to push for a return to the Premier Division at the first attempt.”
