Goal Scorers: Rich Martins, Pete Roughton

Match Report By: Andy Robertson

2-0 down after 5 minutes. Defence cut to ribbons by a rapid, direct H&W Colts attack. This was not the start to the season we were hoping for. But when you’re down there’s only one direction you can go.

Woody and Randall came off the bench to add some wise heads to the middle of the park alongside Will. Players settled into their positions and learnt their job for the day. By half time we had one back courtesy of a Rich Martins power strike that didn’t hit the backboard. We were heading the right direction.

The second half was a competitive affair. We defended with passion and broke with energy. We were rewarded with a penalty corner. Gabe stepped up confidently to the top of the D to take the strike. His effort was saved but Pete threw everything at the rebound to sweep it home.

The last 10 minutes we retreated and defended tirelessly to the final whistle. A great, resilient team effort. Shout out to the youngsters making their debut in adult hockey: George, Amos and Gabe. They held their own and Gabe was voted our MVP for the day.
