Match Report by Tim Gingell
Another tough fixture for the Magnums, despite fielding a full squad with the welcome additions of Wiz and Pokey.
We started with our usual open-door policy for guests, conceding early before waking up and working hard to get ourselves into the match.
At the back, Cliff (Edge), Pokey, Jonny, Trevor and Dickie, supported from the bench by Sarge and Leon, stuck to their tasks. Although, at times, chasing shadows seemed to be the order of the day!
In midfield, Wiz provided a great outlet, while the writer, Giles, and Robin worked hard to stem the tide as the opposition enjoyed the majority of possession.
Up front, Patti and Martyn had to survive on the scraps of ball we could provide, with Pom and Brian coming on and working hard to try to make a difference.
Half-time: 0–2
The final score of 0–5 reflected the opposition’s pressure and quality. Things weren’t helped by Wiz getting crocked – perhaps the only way they could stop him!
Giles was voted Man of the Match by his teammates, with special mentions from the opposition for both Pokey and Wiz.
A tough result, but credit to everyone for continuing to work hard against a strong side.
