🏑 Southgate Juniors Weekly Round-Up 🔴⚫
It’s been a tough week of fixtures for our Southgate juniors but what truly stood out was the resilience, spirit, and teamwork shown across every pitch. Even when results didn’t go our way, our players continued to battle hard, support each other, and play with pride. That’s the true Southgate way!
U14 Girls
- U14 Girls: A narrow 2-1 loss away to Hertford in the Tier 1 Cup – a tough encounter, but the girls worked incredibly hard and showed great grit right to the end.
- Meanwhile, the U14 Penguins soared to a 3-0 win against West Herts in the Tier 3 Cup. A superb performance and a fantastic result!
U14 Boys
- The U14 boys had a closely fought match, leading 3-1 at halftime but eventually falling 4-3 to Chelmsford in the Tier 2 Cup. Goals came from Thomas (1) and Gabriel (2), with Fyfe named Player of the Match.
- The U14 Whales faced a difficult home fixture in the Tier 3 Cup, losing 8-0 to OMT.
U16 Girls
- U16 Girls: A hard-fought match against Reading ended 4-1, but the girls kept their heads up and showed great determination throughout. Plenty of positives to take forward into next week!
- U16 PJs: A courageous performance from the U16 PJs, who played with just 10 players against Spencer’s first team. A special mention to Elsa for stepping up as goalkeeper and to Nora for showing amazing grit after getting injured mid-way through. Despite the 0-8 loss, the girls showed incredible spirit – as Coach Nigel said, “You may not have won the match, but you won everyone’s admiration.”
U16 Boys
- U16Boys: An 8-3 win vs Amersham & Chalfont secured qualification for the next round of the Supraleague! Goals from Jo (2), Kitt (2), Zack (1), Charlie (1), Elliot (1) and Tom (1). A huge achievement – well done boys!
- The U16 Lions battled hard but went down 1-13 to a strong Ham & West side in the Tier 2 Cup. A tough result but lots of learning to take forward.
U18 Girls
Playing under the lights, the U18 girls put on a spectacular display, beating H&W 6-0. A commanding team effort and a joy to watch!
U18 Boys
The U18 boys staged a thrilling comeback to win their cup tie 2-1 against Blueharts, with goals from Jay and Aidan. A brilliant show of composure and teamwork under pressure – well done boys!

To all our players, parents, coaches, and managers – thank you for braving the weather, showing up with smiles, and keeping the Southgate spirit alive. Rain or shine, win or lose – this club is about passion, perseverance, and pride.
