🏑 Southgate Juniors Weekly Round-Up 🏑
Another fantastic weekend of hockey for our juniors! From our littlest Gators to our U18s, the Southgate spirit was out in full force – teamwork, smiles, and determination all round.
U8s
What a brilliant morning of hockey for our youngest players at the Broxbourne U8s Tournament! The pitches were full of smiles, energy, and goals as four Southgate teams took part and what results!
- Geckos: 2 wins, 2 losses
- Gators: 4 wins (undefeated!)
- Caymans: 3 wins, 1 loss
- Crocs: 3 wins, 1 draw
Huge shout out to Eva’s dad, Niels, who once again stepped up to coach the Crocs and help them go undefeated!
A special mention to our three debut players, Aarya, Robbie, and Julian for playing their very first tournament! The first one can always feel daunting, so we’re thrilled you joined us and had such a fantastic time.
Great teamwork, great fun, and true Southgate spirit all round!
U10 Girls
The U10 Adders showed brilliant progress, losing 2 and winning 1, and really grew as a team. They played some fabulous passing hockey and most importantly, supported each other with smiling faces throughout!
The U10 Mambas also had a great day, drawing 1 and winning 2, showing solid teamwork and consistency.
U10 Boys
Two U10 boys’ teams entered the Herts Festival, and both teams put in great shifts. The Cobras did especially well considering it was their first real time playing together – 1 win, 1 draw, and 2 losses.
Excellent experience and teamwork on display from all!
U12 Girls
The U12 Rhinos were away at Letchworth for matches against Harpenden and delivered a 9 – 0 win! Incredible effort and endurance shown by all the girls and a big shoutout to Lauren, who joined the team to boost numbers and played two tournaments in one day!
The U12 Zebras were also away at the Herts Tournament in Letchworth and came home with a clean sweep of victories:
- Harpenden 2 – 0
- Cambs City 6 – 1
- Letchworth 1 – 0
- Berkhamsted & Hemel 1 – 0
Four out of four wins! Outstanding work, Zebras!
Meanwhile, our U12 Buffaloes and Giraffes enjoyed a goal-filled tournament in the London Mini League.
Buffaloes Results:
- 0 – 0 vs West Herts
- 0 – 2 vs Southgate Giraffes
- 3 – 0 vs Eastcote B (Ruby (2), Georgia)
- 0 – 1 vs Eastcote C
- 0 – 3 vs Eastcote A
Giraffes Results:
- 2 – 0 vs Buffaloes
- 2 – 0 loss vs Eastcote A
- 1- 0 vs West Herts
- 4 – 0 vs Eastcote B
- 4 – 0 vs Eastcote C
Special mention to our two newest players: Gaby, who impressed in midfield with her dynamic and energetic style, and Grace, who bravely stepped into goal after just one training session. This allowed both teams to play full squads. Amazing commitment and teamwork!
U12 Boys
A determined effort from all our U12 boys this weekend, with goals from Nivein, Henry, and Aidan.
- Kestrels: 1 win (1 – 0), 1 loss, 1 draw (1 – 1)
- Falcons: 1 win (3 – 1), 2 losses
- Eagles: tough day, no wins this time
Huge shoutout to Alice Korth for fantastic parental support on the sidelines! The boys really appreciated it!
U14 Girls
A tough match for our U14 Girls against Surbiton’s 1st team, with an official score of 8 – 1, and a deserved goal from Felicienne. Definitely a learning experience. Jon, the manager said, “super proud of the grit and determination shown throughout the whole match and that the girls never took a backward step.”
Our U14 Penguins had plenty to celebrate, with many players making their first-ever 11-a-side appearance and they triumphed 5 – 1 over Barnes! The manager said he was super proud of the girls!
U14 Boys
An excellent weekend for our U14 boys, who won 8 – 1 away against Eastcote Razorbacks. Goals came from Thomas, Oli, Oliver, Sahil, and Benjamin. An outstanding team performance!
The U14 Whales battled hard for a 2 – 2 draw at home against West Herts. Great effort and teamwork from the boys!
U16 Boys
The U16 Lions fought bravely at home but went down 9 – 2 to Teddington U16As. It was 1 – 1 at half time, but a tough second half followed. The team showed real resilience and heart.
Meanwhile, our U16 Boys Tier 1 Supra League side got their season off to a flying start with a 6 – 0 win away at Cambridge! Goals were from Zack (3), Eliot (2), and Charlie (1), with excellent club debuts from Sam, Leo, Hal, and Eliot. Zack was named Man of the Match.
U18 Girls
No time for match day bingo this week! The U18 Girls played an extremely hard-fought game, taking a 2–1 win over Richmond. The manager praised the hard work and perseverance from all girls on both teams. A brilliant, competitive match and a well-deserved victory!

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful parents for driving the children all over, cheering from the sidelines, and bringing the energy every week. To our brilliant managers and coaches for their endless encouragement, guidance, and support. And of course, to our incredible players – for your commitment, resilience, teamwork, and for sharing the joy of hockey with such passion.
