Southgate Hockey Club – Important Update: Our New Code of Conduct

At Southgate Hockey Club, we want everyone to enjoy their hockey in an environment that is safe, welcoming, respectful, and positive. To support this, the club has now formally adopted England Hockey’s Spirit of Hockey Code of Conduct.

This national framework sets out the values and behaviours expected across our sport, and it reflects the culture we want to continue building at Southgate – one where everyone feels part of a supportive community and where we play the game in the right way.

Alongside this, we have created a short Southgate-specific Code of Conduct Summary. This highlights the key expectations for our members, including:

Safety – playing within the rules and looking after each other

Respect – for teammates, opponents, umpires, volunteers, and parents.

Fair Play – competing with integrity and accepting decisions.

Responsibility – following club policies and contributing positively to club life.

These expectations apply to all players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, parents, and spectators involved in club activity.

By adopting this framework, we are reaffirming our commitment to a club culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and safe, both on and off the pitch.

If you have any questions, please speak to your captain, coach, or a member of the club committee.

Thank you for helping us make Southgate a club we can all be proud of.
