Southgate Men welcomed league leaders Surbiton last Saturday and were given a masterclass in how to start a game as the visitors put 4 goals past the home side in the first quarter.
Goals from Stuart Rushmere. Jacob Payton, Nick Bandurak and Gareth Furlong in the first 17 minutes gave the Barry Middleton coached side a comfortable cushion to play out the remainder of the game.
Yet Southgate rallied- Nick Bandurak’s stroke the only goal for the remainder of the half. The second half saw Southgate with chances including some gasp inducing saves from former Southgate player Calum Douglas to deny Charles Hamilton a well deserved goal. Max Anderson and Gareth Furlong added two more with some outstanding hockey on display.
Huw Stevens side will go again this weekend with a 18:00 date with Hampstead and Westminster at Paddington Recreation Ground. All support welcome!
