On a bright crisp January afternoon in Trent park, the W6s had brought the vibes with the return of the Jo Price, Welsh silver medalist following her success in New Zealand at the Hockey Masters World Cup finals in the O65s category!

Alongside masters international Kathy Hammond’s expertise coaching running the sideline the team was happy and ready to get a good game in. Knowing we had no keeper, Southgate W6s knew it would be tough to hold off the hard hits from Winchmore Hill & Enfield W2s. Setting up with two centre mids worked extremely well, thanks to Akshay’s master mind attacking team set up. Jo and Didi smashed it in the centre mid position, keeping passing simple and for the first time in a while the W6s were attacking majority of the game, with some work still required in training in getting those rebounds in, the team showed real progress from all players, including Suneeta and Chloe who have gone from strength to strength on the pitch after starting from back to hockey! Suneeta debuting her Southgate kit this match!

Despite multiple defending short corners, Jo, Claire, Dervla, Andrea and Chloe were able to keep the goals out and Winchmore Hill & Enfield didn’t score from those. One goal per half with no keeper was a pretty good turnout to the home side who were delighted to get a game and put some skills from training to the test on match day.

Player of the match: Jo Price.
