This academic year we built on the success of the first year of the School Outreach Programme. In our first two years, we have worked with 29 state schools and 7 independent schools in a variety of contexts including clubs, school day sessions, masterclasses, festivals and regular contracted coaching.
In Year 2 we have worked with 17 state schools for the first time and all 4 independent schools were new collaborations. We introduced hockey to more than 270 children when we attended the North London LYG Inspire Festival, the Enfield Girls’ Sports Festival and hosted Enfield and Barnet primary schools for a hockey festival. Our School Outreach Programme for Year 2 came to a close with our final session at Rhodes Avenue Primary School for the term.
The success of the Outreach Programme has seen 12 club coaches and 2 young coaches contribute to the delivery of the programme. We have worked with more than 1000 children in the community to encourage healthy, active lifestyles and promote the sport of hockey.
