Southgate Hockey Club are proud to have supported Barnet at the London Youth Games. 16 children from the borough prepared for the tournaments at Southgate Hockey Centre during May and June before competing at Lee Valley over the weekend.

The London Youth Games is Europe’s largest annual youth sports event, bringing together young Londoners from all 33 boroughs to compete in over 30 different sports. It aims to inspire young people to achieve their best through sport and physical activity.

The games foster community spirit and provide opportunities for spectators to support their boroughs.

We had two young teams for their first LYG experience and the players enjoyed the competition, where each team played 8 games across the day.

Some cracking games were played – win, lose, or draw – and the players were all very excited by the idea of returning next year with this experience under their belt.

Well done to all those who took part, and to Coach Chris for supporting these young players throughout the tournament.
