🏑 Southgate Juniors Weekly Round-Up 🔴⚫

Another busy and competitive weekend of junior hockey, with plenty of effort, resilience and team spirit on display across the club. While not every result went our way, the performances and commitment shown were something to be proud of.

U14G – Dolphins

The GU14 Dolphins were in T3 Cup Semi-Final action and faced two tight matches, narrowly losing 1 – 0 to Barnes and 2 – 1 to Sunbury.

Tough results, but this remains a fantastic team with great spirit and quality and lots still to play for in the league.  Heads up and eyes forward.

U14B – Whales

The U14 Whales played their Plate Semi-Final against Old Cranleighans in a closely fought contest.  Full-time finished 1 – 1, with Cyrus on the scoresheet after a strong, well-balanced team performance.

Unfortunately, the boys were edged out 4 – 1 on shuffles, but overall this was a great team showing  composed, competitive and full of effort right to the end.

U16Gs

The GU16s secured a hard-earned 2 – 0 win against Amersham & Chalfont in the Tier 1 Plate, showing resilience and focus when it mattered.

Goals:

  • Goo (PC)
  • Genevieve (FG)

A strong result that sees the girls progress.  They’ll now find out who they face in the 2nd Round on 1st March.

U16Bs

A tough home fixture for the U16 Boys, who narrowly lost 4 – 3 to Reading in the Tier 1 Supraleague.

The match turned during a dramatic period where three yellow cards in three minutes shifted momentum, but the boys showed real character to keep fighting.

Goals:

  • Charlie (2)
  • Kitt (1)

Plenty of positives to take from a hard-fought game against strong opposition.
