🏑 Southgate Juniors Weekly Round-Up 🔴⚫
A packed weekend of fixtures with plenty to celebrate, some tough lessons, and real resilience on show across the club.
U14 Girls (Tier 1A)
A fantastic start for our U14 Girls as they begin their Tier 1A foray in style! A tight and well-fought 1 – 0 victory over a very strong Marlow side, securing their first group win.
The difference came from Evie M, who delivered a cracking penalty corner strike. A brilliant team effort and a great platform to build on.
Next up, they’re away at Beeston next Sunday. Best of luck, girls!
U14 Girls (Tier 3)
More good news for the U14 Girls, as the Tier 3 side delivered a superb 4 – 1 win over Richmond in the Tier 3 London Cup. Goals came from Ava (2), Alessia, and Sydney, rounding off a very strong day for the age group. Well done to Matt and the entire team – great work!
U14 Boys
A strong start for the U14 Boys Performance team in Tier 1B, who came away with a 3 – 3 draw against Amersham & Chalfont HC. A solid all-round team performance, with goals from Thomas, Charlie, and Zachary. A promising opening result.
U16 Girls – Pumas (Tier 3B)
Disappointment for the U16 Pumas, who were forced to concede as they couldn’t field a team, despite a mighty effort to try and make it happen. A tough one, but credit to everyone who tried to pull things together.
U16 Boys (Lions)
It was a tough outing for the U16 Boys Lions, who lost 11 – 1 to Saffron Walden in the Tier 2 Cup (3rd round). Credit to the boys for keeping going, with Max grabbing the consolation goal.
U18 Girls
The U18 Girls endured a frustrating and hard-fought 6 – 2 loss. At 2 – 1 at half time, everything was still to play for, but a difficult third quarter – including two green cards, a flick, and several short corners against – swung the momentum. Despite it all, the girls showed huge character, fought to the end, and have plenty to be proud of.
U18 Boys
It was a challenging afternoon for the U18 Boys, who went down 5 – 1 against Marlow HC in the EH Cup. The boys battled right until the final whistle, but facing a side featuring the England Captain and multiple TA players was always going to be a tall order.
Huge thanks and congratulations to Will W, who stepped in to coach and did an outstanding job under tough circumstances.
Well done to all our players, coaches, and supporters for another committed weekend. Onwards and upwards! 🔴⚫ 🏑
