Southgate’s Men were back outdoors with their first pre-season friendly following on from the Indoor Season drawing to a close in Derby at the end of January. Coach Huw Stevens was without captain John Sterlini and midfielder Nat Farrant for the friendly but was bolstered by returning players Ali Douglas and Robbie Gill who augmented his line-up against Hampstead & Westminster.
A chilly night played out a good contest as both sides limbered up for some big games coming up in phase 2 of the Premier Division starting in March. Southgate will travel to Cardiff for their game at Sophia Gardens with much at stake and hope to avenge a poor start when Cardiff ran out as winners in the home leg in September.
The next friendly is on Saturday at 15:30 against Holcombe
