The Southgate Lions (also known as the Flagons) came from behind to defeat a strong and well drilled Harleston Magpies team.
Huw Stevens scored two crucial penalty corner goals to equalise the contest after going one down in the first half- before in the dying minutes he sent in a ball from the 25 hard into the D which deflected well for Andrew Westbrook to score what proved to be the winning goal.
The win sends Southgate 035’s through to the quarter final of the Tier 1 o35’s cup which sees Southgate take on Canterbury at Polo Farm on the 9th March. The game reunites some former Canterbury players including both M1 and W1 coaches Huw Stevens and Andy Richardson.
Mark Ellis won the MOM votes for his decisive role in midfield, Southgate goal keeper Rob Goodhew also proved instrumental keeping out a series of Magpie corners.
